My love began with traditional watercolors. For me, the unpredictability and uncontrollable nature of watercolor made it the most exciting and expressive medium of all. The opportunity to meander somewhere between mastery and complete lack of control during the course of a painting make it one of the most engaging mediums.

When working digitally, I use my tablet and custom brushes I create, based on the subject I am painting.  Combining the uncontrollable nature of watercolor and the new medium of digital art made it the most exciting and expressive medium to me. I believe the digital medium is finding its place in the art world, and that artists should use, value and enjoy all available means of creative expression.

Nearly all of my art is influenced by nature or the place I call home, Minnesota.
